Although my chosen site of 660 Dundas St. East represented qualities of an urban room, I also found it lacked certain qualities. My project is guided by the concept of a piece of paper leaning off the building’s 30-foot overhang. The paper was then transformed into a sheet of translucent corrugated pink polycarbonate supported by scaffolding and braces. The translucency of the polycarbonate plays with the user by creating a show of ever-changing silhouettes. My design provides a place of shelter and rest, concealing the user from the busy city while adding a splash of colour to the area.
