The client, StepStones for Youth, has recently acquired a new property with four units that will serve as temporary housing for youth who have aged out of foster care. The design concept for my individual unit is to create a space for youth aged 18-24 that encourages relaxation and fun. If will offer them multiple spaces where they can do many activities. The main level includes the cooking area, entertainment area and a fun swing. The upper level consist of two loft areas, including the first sleeping space made of a bed of pillows, a multipurpose space that can be used for eating, reading, studying and more. Between these two loft space is occupied by a mesh net for relaxing below the skylight. The lowest level includes the second sleeping space, a large built in bathtub that will reflect the light from the above glass floor and the toilet room.
