Designed for the artists of the Toronto-based organization Akin Collective, submerge provides a harmonious and inspiring studio marketplace for painters to work and captivate the public. Located in Roy Thomson Hall’s sunken garden just off the bustling PATH system, submerge features studio pods that appear to sink beneath the reflecting pool. Skylights above and below the surface create intriguing sightlines and light conditions for the artists at work. The space engages with the PATH and street level above, encouraging all to gaze out at the studios, explore the art marketplace, and inhabit a reimagined urban landscape.
