Inspired by Sara Ahmed’s Queer Phenomenology, which examines alternative ways that bodies occupy and navigate spaces, the Reorienting Maze provides a model for “finding your way” through the processes of dis- and re-orientation. The maze-like structure is made up of interlocking frames that create various shaped spaces or tunnels. This interactive approach allows people to experience the process of finding direction in a tangible way. The netting, tied on the interwoven frames, represents obstacles encountered in the process: encouraging individuals to acknowledge them and move forward with greater resilience. This concept allows individuals to confront their fears and find their own unique path to success and fulfillment whether in physical space or in life.
