Tasked with creating a movie lounge in TMU’s school of interior design building, our team designed a cozy and relaxing space for multi-media viewing. The lounge is inspired by classic tiered movie theatre design but eliminates individual seating to make the space more casual and intimate. Acoustic applications (floor, ceiling, and wall materials/construction) are essential in the design to ensure the neighbouring learning environments are maintained for students. A concessions area at the entrance divides off the lounge space and opens the space up to the third-floor studio, inviting students to snack and socialize.
