This parti model displays the key ideas in Patkau Architects' Linear House. The reoccurring panels lined across the exterior is a defining element of this house in how they catch light and cast shadows. It highlights the horizontality of the building as one's eye follows the panels and shadows from end to end. Concealing all openings except for the one between the guest and main house allows the exposure of the skylight and passage through to showcase the separation. This emphasis reveals the proportions of the house's shell, which parallels the golden ratio. The gold ratio, placing a pleasant balance on proportions, allows one to view the house differently: although there is a split down the house, connection and balance remains. Meaning although there is a disruption in the linear aspects of the house, it still flows.
