Origin shines a light on the underlying presence of the past in designs of the future. In the composition of a circular maze, the cyclical nature of history and its nature to re-emerge is explored. The maze is constructed of stone with a seamless metal exterior: a futuristic shell that fragments apart to reveal the past beneath. Through various paths and opportunities to exit without discovering the hidden realities, the viewer is encouraged to lead their own way in this space of disorientation. History is often never traced back in one manner, and the absence of a ‘right’ path to follow in the maze reflects this truth. Origin does not assemble moments in time but rather highlights existing connections to ask viewers to deconstruct the future and guide themselves back to the past.
