Imagine music, vibrant colours, and the warmth and comfort of family. Bright red festivals are universally associated with any Chinese celebration, inspired by my Chinese background's traditional lanterns often seen during these celebrations. I displayed an integration of layers that convey hierarchy and respect, highlighting the importance of family. Using subtraction techniques, I created an inverted lantern within an A2 spatial space. Wood and plaster are used as hybrid materials to produce a neutral colour palette that contrasts with the red interior adding emphasis to the space. The use of wood to create a spiral staircase with an axial symmetry reflects how family members provide a feeling of identity and support. When discovered in the dark, the prism would glow from within, emitting a crimson colour that symbolizes prosperity, warmth, and strength. .
