To say I’ve captured the whole essence of The Fighting Temeraire by J. M. W Turner to its entirety, would be to say I’ve done an impossible feat. However, I’d like to say that with my emotive object and the envelope that surrounds it, I’ve captured it to the best of my human capabilities. In the process of making this model, the word “ghastly” was thrown around as a humorous joke. At first, it was nothing but a word; but as the object became more and more tangible in my hands, the more it became a true testament to the story behind the painting and what my objective was when creating emotion and provoking thought when viewing it. With a mixture of both modern and old materials, I hope that what you see before you is a ghastly sight.
