Encyclopedia builds upon the underlying practices at play in the previous office design project, Nomado. Nomado is a library, publishing office, and print workshop. This piece depicts a view from the ‘nomadic’ workspace office down to the Heidelberg printing press in the workshop. Inspired by Diderot’s “Encyclopédie,” the drawing utilizes line and hatching techniques of traditional printmaking. Elements directly from the pages of this historical book were collaged with the digital linework. With a focus on light and shadow, Encyclopedia archives the present and uses windows in conversation to see into the past and towards the future.
