This project explores mental health, more specifically, isolation. Eccedentesiast [ex-cen-dent-tee-shee-ist] describes when someone fakes a smile on the outside and keeps the “ugly” parts to themselves. It stems from the Latin words ecce, ‘I present to you,’ dentes, ‘teeth,’ and –iast, ‘performer,’ according to CSOFT International. Being eccedentesiast common as people understand that everyone has their own set of problems. Therefore individuals isolate themselves and appear exceptional. The model displays the positivity emitted and isolation withheld from view using perspective and colours. It also utilises lighting, creating a spotlight effect from the top, further emphasising the feeling of loneliness.
