For my emotive object, I was inspired by a painting called Spring, by Masha Gusova. I was intrigued by the female figure dissolving and stretching into distortion. To achieve this design on a physical object, I utilized plaster, spackle, and wire. I glued together a wire frame, covered it with plaster, then spackled a top layer, sanding it down to create a seamless finish. To better reflect light, I coated the object with a gloss finish. I was intrigued by how the head and hand of the painting were the focal points of the piece. To represent that in model form, I strategically placed lights in the top and bottom portions of my model, shining them outwards to achieve a stretched appearance. I imagine this object at a much larger scale, so that people are able to easily pass underneath it.
