In this symbolic representation, each element carries a distinct meaning. The clay used to create the model represents the earth, as it is sourced from within it. The pins used to shape and hold the model in place symbolize the mortal element, as they are transient and easily breakable, representing the impermanent nature of life. The clay pot on which the model is formed represents the divine element, as it showcases the potential for creating something beautiful through pottery skills. In contrast, the clay model itself is portrayed as fragile and impermanent, emphasizing the transient nature of mortal existence. The red thread wound around the model using pins represents the sky element, as it does not directly touch the earth just as the sky does not. Instead, the thread acts as a symbol of the means through which the sky touches the earth, such as clouds or other indirect means.
