I was intrigued by the use of curtains within a space and using them in other ways than in front of a window to block out light. When using AI to create images from word prompts, I wanted to investigate a hybrid Interior-system that uses a curtain to create a new experience. One idea I had started to look at was the hybridity between a chair and a curtain. I used keywords to explore prompting ideas like retractable, accordion, ruching, expand and close, track, morph, and combination. Once I developed a robust image collection, I started thinking about how this hybrid system could work and interact. The user of the Accordair could pull it open like a typical curtain, revealing a seating system made out of the curtain fabric.Through this new hybrid system, the user can create smaller spaces with acoustic properties while also achieving a unique seating arrangement and attaining flexible space and programmatic diversity.
